Are We There Yet?
When are we going to be able to use the new worship center and other areas of the new building? That question, and rightly so, is the question on many of our minds today. The answer is that diligent, heroic, and sacrificial efforts are being made toward that end. Currently, finishing touches are being applied in several areas. Some key milestones have already been reached and others are clearly in sight.
While the visible appearance of the new building appears to say it is ready for us to move in, you may be wondering why we cannot do so. Some of the less visible elements are not yet completed. For instance, the heating system is not yet ready to start up, although it is getting close. Similarly, many of the doors and door hardware are delayed, and some of those are critically required by code to get approval for occupancy. Our suppliers are helping us with “work-arounds” where possible. Please pray that these remaining hurdles can be overcome.
We should have a clear picture of a possible time to begin using the building by the end of this month. The plan will be to start using the building for worship and activities as soon as possible and then have a dedication service later so as many people who would like to attend may be able to do so.
The use of the building depends on completion of key areas mentioned above and then having an inspection that will provide at least a conditional use permit. We must have this permit in place before we can set a date to have a service in the building.
I want to express my appreciation for the diligent work that has been given by the Valley church family and friends. It has been a marvel to see how God has prompted the hearts of so many people to give time and talent to this effort. The prayers of the Valley church family for provision and protection during these days have been heard and answered marvelously by our Father in Heaven. God’s financial support through you, His faithful children, has been a wonder to behold.
Please remain diligent in prayer in these specific areas:
- Timely arrival of needed materials
- Timely completion of work by contractors
- Wisdom, discernment, strength, and a commitment to glorify God for those guiding the project.
- Continued provision for every skill needed to bring the project to completion.
- That we remain vigilant in our commitment to the task of preparing people to meet Jesus.
“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:58, ESV)
